Qingcheng Hainan Jifan in Songshan

The restaurant provides quite a decent food, and the environment gets much better after being redecorated. It’s not cheap as we have seen the price jumps from TWD 75 to 115 within a few years, but it’s still popular as always. If you come around lunch time, you expect to wait in a long queue for making your order and waiting for another 10-20 minutes for preparation. We come here around 8 pm to avoid the crowd, but some employees here keep cleaning tables or kitchen like it’s hour of the restaurant close. That really makes us feel we are not welcome here... overall, food 5.0 out of 5, environment 4 out of 5, service 3 out of 5

The best meal you will have in Taipei. Simple meals, but pack with flavor. Be prepared for long lines, but it moves fairly quickly. You won’t be disappointed.

The green sauce is perfect. The chicken is tender and full of flavour. The rice is so yum with the sauce. It's self-serivice. Arrive before 12:20pm to avoid queue from office workers nearby.

I ordered the Hainan chicken plate with veggies which costs 115NTD. Dining in also comes with complimentary soup. The chicken is so tender and moist. Rice has a hint of chicken fat to enhance the flavor.

Good, simple, chicken rice. Go to the counter and make your order. Definitely get the large plate with more sides. Then wait by the window to get your food. The green sauce is nice but quite salty, so don't take too much. Grab a seat and make sure to clear your plate afterwards (self service). Soup is included as well.

This chicken and rice shop pretty much only serves chicken and rice with or without vegetables. I would characterize this as more Thai style than Singaporean based on the dipping sauces. They offer a chili soy based sauce and a ginger scallion. The sauces are done well. However, I found the chicken a bit bland and the rice to not have the fragrant chicken fat flavor soaked in the rice. Tender boneless chicken with spring onion sauce, hmmm a perfect match. Rice was a bit dry though.

Good taste, good price

I'd work there for free just to learn how they cook the chicken. It looked blend but I think the proper brining totally brought out the fresh chicken flavors. The meat was so tender but still maintained the true texture and elasticity. 2 dipping sauces tasted very good too. Oil rice had a hint of garlic and some other herbs. For me it's better than the chicken rice I had in Malaysia. Price is reasonable, would come back many times!

I think this 海南 chicken restaurant offer the best 海南 chicken and chicken soup flavor rice in Taipei city. You must go there early for enjoy this delicacies. The chicken bone has been take away for happy chewing and swallowing. Their preparation of meal is special. Many elements will be put around a lazy Susan. According to each order, each person will put their own element to the dish and sent it to the next person through the lazy Susan.

Delicious juicy and tender chicken! Both the brown and green sauce are amazing. The cp value is off the charts at this popular joint. Try to avoid the lunch or dinner rush if you don’t like long lines. Otherwise call and order for pick up! Highly recommended!

Icy cold chicken,but very smooth and good flavours

Super fast and yummy~~ Purchase a ticket at the front counter and then present it to the workers at a side window to recieve your food in seconds! Two sauces and both recommended- traditional salty herb sauce for the Hainan chicken and also a sweet-spicy mixed color chilli sauce 😤😶 Also have (free?) Soup! And remember to self-clear :^)

Pretty good, its hard to find good hainan chicken rice in Taipei. But there is always a queue, so better go at non meal times.

Besides from long queue, it's actually a good value chicken rice.

Good tastes, chicken was tender, however I wish the rice has a stronger taste. Many people around dinner time. Better to find seats first before ordering (come with your friends). No drink available.

If you really need to have Singaporean dish in Taiwan, maybe you can try this. The chicken is good but soups least like sewage.

Chicken and rice are tasty, the rest of it is just okay. Chicken might be a lit bit too salty, eat it with rice will be fine. (Prices are higher than regular lunch boxes in Taipei City)

Definitely need to check out this place, as it offers the best Hainan chicken in Taipei. Make sure to avoid lunch time, as lines can go very long...

Good value for money

One of the top places to get Hainan Chicken rice in Taipei! The chicken was tender and soft, didn’t have that much taste so you have to blend it with the ginger/green onion mixture. I thought the finely chopped green mixture was way too salty, so definitely blend it well with rice, then add a piece of chicken to every bite.

I wasn’t really sure what the hype was about. It’s decent at best and nothing special. Don’t get me wrong the food wasn’t bad, but I don’t see myself coming back for it anytime soon.

Singaporeans homesick for chicken rice can come here to satisfy our cravings. Bearing that the chilli sauce is not what we have back home, the chicken (only boneless chicken leg are available, no breast meat) is very tender and goes very well with the savoury green onion ginger sauce. The rice is not as “fragrant” as what we have back home by still yummy. All in all, worth our trip here and our kids are eating double portions.

My favorite place for Hainan chicken (海南雞飯). The chicken is extremely tender and juicy. The highlight of the meal was the green onion sauce. It brightens up the flavor the chicken and rice. This place gets very busy, but turnover is pretty fast, so we usually get a table as soon as our food arrives.

Tender chicken, fragrant rice. Only two choices: without vegetables (ie just chicken and rice) or with vegetables. It’s a decent portion of vegetables, I’d order it with the vegetables. Free clear chicken soup (just help yourself) in a big pot. Nice ginger spring onion sauce and chilli. Tidy up the table after you’re done eating. Excellent Hainanese chicken rice. It hit the spot!

Very tasty. Chicken with sauce is so great. Rice is really traditional. The vegetable beside not as good as main dish. But it’s worth a try.

They're pretty good and they're reasonably priced. But they close once they've sold out of what they allotted for the day, which could be much earlier than their listed closing time.

Extremely juicy and fragrant chicken (don't rely too much on their sauces). The (long grain) rice is soft with mellow aroma. Tasty juicy side veggies. I come from Thailand where good chicken rice is plentiful, but the chicken here (this shop seems to use tight meat only) trumps them all. There are places in Thailand where rice is better but this shop isn't bad either. People talk about Singapore of having the best chicken rice. Clearly they have never tried this shop. Highly recommended.

Great portion for the whole bento. Mix of veggies and meat. Yummy green onion sauce. Perfectly cooked and seasoned chicken. Pretty busy during lunch hours on weekdays since there are many offices in the area. Come by before or after to avoid crowds!
